Week of June 1, 2026
Here’s a rundown of my week.
The Mandalorian and Grogu
The Mandalorian and Grogu was fun although I was very disappointed that the little green Baby Yoda thing didn’t get his hand cut off like in that other Star Wars movie.
That was cool.
Movies need more hands being cut off.
Sigourney Weaver - above - is in the movie.
She doesn’t have anything cut off in the movie.
The Lord of the Flies
The Lord of the Flies is an almost perfect book, so I don’t understand why the people who adapted it for BBC / Netflix decided to change and add as much as they did.
There were no backstories in the book. At no point in the book did the boys find a woman’s suitcase and decide to wear makeup and women’s clothing. (Jack wears a fur stole as a vest and later a pearl and lace veil, another kid wears hoop skirt lingerie, others wear gloves – all wear makeup). There was no drama between Jack and Simon over Simon’s diary in the book. Piggy died instantly in the book – he didn’t live for a day. Jack was not a coward who questioned his cowardice in the book. And on and on and on.
Again, the book is almost perfect.
This adaptation was not.
Boy George at the HEB
Boy George was singing “Miss Me Blind” at HEB this morning while I was picking up a frozen burrito. Good times. Kudos to whoever does the music at my favorite grocery store.
Chill Baby, Baby. Chill
Unleash your License to Chill this summer with the best beach reads available. Several thousand sold, over 400 five-star reviews, and fans screaming for book four (Coming Soon!).
Ok.
Screaming might be a tad strong. But folks have emailed me asking about the next adventure.
Rest assured, I’m working on it.
Flowers
A look at some of the things growing in my yard that I either don’t know the name of or don’t care to remember the name of. Regardless, all are pretty.
Dentist
I went.
All clean.
See ya’ in six months.
This Cat
I love it when Amazon reviewers post pictures with their reviews.
This cat doesn’t look like he enjoys being a part of that process though.
Who cares?
It’s a cat.
I bet he gets free food and toys and stuff at his house.
He’s got no room to complain.
Tales of the Gold Monkey
Again, why no one has asked me to write a reboot of Tales of the Gold Monkey is beyond me.
I’d do it in a heartbeat.
Piney Woods
A little project I’m working on. Details to come. Or contact me for more info…..
Piney Woods is an homage to and update of the classic drive-in ScareFests of the 1970s and 1980s. This tight movie designed for streaming features the three Bs of “Breasts, Blood, and Beasts” and is supported by a great story full of memorable characters, roller coaster action, humor, and romance (ok, lust). It is designed to be shot with very limited locations, quick and dirty, and on the cheap.
