Week of July 6, 2026

Here’s a rundown of my week.

How to Make a Killing

How to Make a Killing stars Glen Powell and that gal who does that lip bite thing that’s oddly intriguing as lifelong loves who end up together after the later sends the former to death row for a murder he didn’t commit.

This is not to say Glen is a good guy.

He’s not.

His character kills a lot of people in this movie just not the person he goes to prison for.

At the end of the movie lip gal proves that Glen didn’t kill the man she said he did, they inherit $26 billion and live happily ever after.

I give How to Make a Killing a B-, so grab a 12 pack, kick back, and enjoy.

More Thoughts From Leroy

“What Leroy the Cat Thinks” is an original comic by Gayne C. Young. Artwork is by Allison Young.

Mitch’s Acid Trip

I swam with a guy named Mitch in high school. One day he dropped acid before practice. He said he did so to see if it would make the swim coach and his direction more tolerable. I asked Mitch how it was going in the middle of practice. He looked past me and said, “Gawd damn, that flip turn ‘bout took for EVER!” I never did hear if the acid helped with Coach Kelly.

Buddy the Dog

Buddy the dog has good taste in books.

Pain Hustlers

Pain Hustlers stars Emily Blunt as a stripper who strips without taking her clothes off. One night while doing this she catches the attention of that guy who played Captain America who convinces her to start selling a fentanyl-type drug for his pharmaceutical company. Emily sells a lot of the stuff as she used to a be a stripper but then starts feeling bad about turning folks into junkies.

The movie is based on a true story but the character that Emily plays is a composite character as no one could be a successful stripper without taking her clothes off.

That being said, Pain Hustlers was kind of fun. I give it a C+, so grab a 12 pack, kick back, and enjoy.

Wonder what he tasted like.

Gayne C. Young

If you mixed Ernest Hemingway, Robert Ruark, Hunter S. Thompson, and four shots of tequila in a blender, a "Gayne Young" is what you'd call the drink!
