Week of October 12, 2026
Here’s a rundown of my week.
My Wisdom Teeth
Got the clasp fixed on my bracelet so now I won’t lose my wisdom teeth a second time.
Road Kill
My favorite “should be” a Merit Badge.
Joyride
Enjoyed listening to “Joyride” by Roxette at HEB while picking up some wings.
She says, "Hello, you fool, I love you
Come join the joyride
Join the joyride"
Mile Swim
Apparently you can’t crack a beer in the locker room to celebrate swimming a mile.
Thanks to the 80 something year old who told me such.
PS. Get that rash checked old man. It looks real bad.
Random Movie Quote
“Have you ever heard the expression “kissed by a muse”? Well, that’s what I am. I’m a muse.” Kira in Xanadu.
Escape from New York
Snake eats meth.
Originally published in 1981, the Escape from New York novelization was brought back into print this year by Echo On Publications. I listened to the book without rewatching the movie and was surprised by how much I remembered about the Kurt Russell classic. The book, of course, goes deeper than the movie and has a few things that didn’t make the movie. For example, how did Snake keep going for 24 hours straight? Meth. Lost and lots of crystal meth, which he ate rather than smoked. All in all, the novelization was a fun commute listen and I recommend.
But, remember kids, drugs are only cool in books. Don’t eat meth.
Random Book Quote
“I suck on a rabbit bone just to give my mouth something to do.” The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.
Davey and Goliath
Davey and Goliath features briefly in Tiger Tales from the Acuña Cartel: Jett Turner Misadventures, Book 1.
And it’s demented as hell.
Give it a look.
Welcome to the insanity that is my life.
The name’s Jett Turner and my early retirement to a lake on the Texas–Mexico border was supposed to be fun and easy going. It didn’t involve me writing up the twisted exploits of the head of the Acuña Cartel, reporting such to the DEA, or watching pandas blow up, people being fed to tigers, or learning about the bodily functions of the tortured.
In addition, I have to deal with a morbidly obese shut-in, a woman hell-bent on collecting the last of my student loans, a hairless chimp named Patty, a giant named Koko, a housekeeper set on cleansing my soul, and a sexual deviant, Larry McMurtry quoting professor. Toss in a beautiful call girl named Laredo Rose, a cheerleader of a waitress with her jaw wired shut, and a traitor of a dog that listens to everyone but me and you get an idea of what I have to deal with on a daily basis.
This first misadventure that is my life is rated R for language, crude humor, and insanely bizarre circumstances but rates an A+ for all of the aforementioned and entertainment value.

Pumpkin Cheese
I never want to meet the person who sees this cheese and thinks, “Man, that looks good!”
Initial Being-Clause
Ya’ learn something new everyday.
Supergirl
Supergirl stars that gal from that Game of Thrones spin off show who is kind’a hot but kind’a weird looking as Kara Zor-El, the last daughter of Krypton. This version of Supergirl is suffering from grief and despair so she goes to worlds with a red sun to get drunk. It looks fun. She puts all this aside when her dog gets nailed by a poisonous dart and she has just three days to retrieve the antidote.
Spolier alert: She gets the antidote, the dog lives, and Supergirl goes back to Earth a changed person.
No nudity, lots of drinking, and cartoon violence. Grab a 12 pack and check it out.
Be Smarter!
This is not political.
When someone posts on Social Media that a hospital just confirmed a patient was in their care (for any reason), your first response should be: Wait, hospitals are forbidden by law from revealing such info. Your second response should be: Who posted this and what do they have to gain as it is obviously not true. This concludes my non-political take on common sense, HIPPA Law, the evils of Social Media, and trolls.
